2000 Tranny Flush
I read the horror stories about the transmission problems and thought it might be a good idea to have the transmission fluid flushed. The truck has 143K miles on it and shifts good now. I have seen that there is some kind of additive specifically for the 5R55E automatic trans. Is this some kind of "cover up" fix that Ford did and do I need it?

a power flush can loosen up things lodged back in the crevisis. i prefer to remove the pan, drain that 5 quarts, change the filter, clean the magent and wipe off the crud off the valve body, reinstall the pan and add 5 new quarts. you can also take off the oi line to the radiator cooler and pump out some that way. i am leary about dealers the "pressure flush". i use MERCON V and no addative.
