I bought a full floor pan manufactured by EMS Automotive kinda thinking that it would fit, the stampings are not correct and the overall fit is poor.
Just thought I would complain to somone.
It is a full floor pan that goes from rocker to rocker and from the kick panel joint to just under the seat. It was almost $300.00. I have it fiting pretty good now but it takes alot of fiddling. What bothered me the most is the stampingings for the front cab mounts were not there.
I called both the distributor and the manufacturer about this and I think they thought I was a nut as they seemed to think everything was OK, I tried to send the manufacturer a picture but no one in the place has an e-mail and they said I could mail one in, really not very interested. I have ordered new cab mounts and when they get here I will fit them and hand work the floor pan to fit.
I looked at pictures of the 1/2 pans and the stampings were there, I should have got a picture of the full pan but I thoiught it would be better to go with the full pan.
i would agree with you on this. if you are going to make it to sell, make it here and make it right. i see why the hobby is on a decline .rich folks aways grab up the nos and nice surviors and we waste time and interest on taiwan grade junk..how can i move up the chain a link or two? what do they have in taiwan that we do not have?
what do they have in taiwan that we do not have?[/QUOTE]
A good time laughing at us american fools that buy the crap they make and send here. Laughing at all the jobs stolen from union sheetmetal worker. And all because we would like to save a few lousy bucks . It is the Wal Mart syndrome. Same as the 99 cheeseburger issue.
Anyway, I had the very same issue with the full pan from that supplier and sent it back with note, I then bought the left and right sides from Blue Oval (FTE Sponsor) and they fit like they were meant to be there. They were NOT from the same tooling at all, as I waited for the B/O to come in to compare. Lot of diff.
Jon
Thats what I should have done but i have gone too far, the individual sides look completely different. Did they acknowledge there was a problem as i didn't get any satisfaction.
No. But I had the OG packaging, and paid with Visa, so I just told them to credit or I would let them deal with Visa. I got a credit in a few weeks. Most vendors know when their product is cr*p and take a lot of it back unless they have a stated "no return" policy. I don't deal with those guys. I hope your pans come out ok, the floor will be covered so the flaws are more forgiving. Jon
Hi, Sorry to hear your new floor is not fitting to good out of the box.
I am using BOTP replacement parts on my cab corners etc and they still require work to get them to fit BUT its still way eaiser than starting with flat sheet!
I have noticed that the patch panels sent to me have two or more part number stickers on them so wonder if they are the same as suppled to other resellers?
I did ask the sales guy at BOTP about quality of fit and they told me that 99% of the fitting problems are from the guy doing the job. NOT so sure about that!! still i am happy with my parts and their service.Dennis Carpenter advertises that SOME of his parts are from orignal FORD tooling so would like to think they would fit properly.Has anyone used their parts? Keep going with your floor i'm sure you will be happy when its all done.
