I believe the engine that was in the truck when we got it was a replacement for the original motor. The reason I think this is because whoever put it in removed a lot of the computer sensors and put a Motorcraft two-barrel V8 carb on it. Also, it was a 2.8, not a 2.9.
I had to remove the engine because it started knocking (loose rod). When I pulled the pan, I found the crankshaft to be trash. So I put an earlier Bronco 2.8 V6 in it. I did not replace the tranny, but I think it was changed when the original 2.9 V6 was rplaced. I don't think it is the original A4LD, but I'm not sure. That's why I would like to ID the tranny, if I can.
The tag looks to me to be very similar to the data tags found on Ford differentials.
