i started a thread about my problems with my truck those that responded all agree its the vss, so i pulled out what i thought was the vss from the rear axle and looked it over cleaned it up put it back in,still have troubles on the way to work today, so i stopped off at napa, and autzone on the way in to see about getting a new sensor they both brought out this unit that looks like it would go in the tranny>?my question this thread is, is the vss the sensor in the pumpkin or is it in the tranny??? if it is the sensor in the rear end anybody have a good part # or know where i can get one??? thanks
1992 and older had a vss on the rear of the tranny at the speedo cable, 1992 and later eliminated the speedo cable and moved the vss to the rear differential.
thanks for the reply i thought the one on the rear end was it but cant seem to get a good part number or find a place that has one the best i have found is online and it is called an "abs"speed sensor but the pic sure looks like mine.

I believe the vss doubles as the abs signal for the rear brakes. If it looks the same than it probably is.
I to have no speedometer right now. went thru the same issue at the parts store. so when you replaced that abs sensor your speedo started to work again? I for the life of me can not find where the vss that i bought for a 94 bronco even goes.
