Went to my local self serve to get some gears today, left without the gears but got....
Injection pump, injector lines, injectors, glow plugs, fuel filter/water seperator header from a 91 7.3.
Heres the kicker. Went to pay, the guy says "whats that?" Injector pump, he says "I have only sold 2 of those in 5 years, we got no pricing for that. How about $12?" Ok, then he didn't charge me for the rest of it.
So I walked out with all of the above for $12 plus the governors cut.
Cover had the provision for a tach drive, but the drive is gone. Someday I will find one of those.
So question. Will these interchange with my 84 6.9? and has anyone rebuilt an IP before. I found somewhere that had rebuild kits, couldn't be that hard?
I'd make friends with that parts guy.........find out when he works and be there a lot. Just the core for the IP is more than he gets paid for a weeks work obviously.
Wow what a steal, really, you basically stole those things......lucky stiff.
The glowplugs aren't swollen or anything are they? Are they good beru Germany ones?

I wish i was as lucky as you.
Glow plugs are not swollen and are champion. Tested them with an ohm meter and 6 test good, then hit them with power and only 3 got hot quick, the other 3 got hot but took a long time. Going to keep the 3 and toss the rest. Figure they will be backups.
Going back this morning to get the glow controller and starter, maybe tranny if its still there. Was a 5 speed, but there was a guy working on getting it out when I left maybe he didn't have all the tools he needs

Hehe. . .I love when that happens, I almost feel guilty. Almost. . .
Ok, first I thought so what if they don't last. But now, no way I will use them. Will keep them around for something though. Probably use them for something someday(not in an engine). I am a packrat.

I've seen where they make a good inline heater for WVO. Use a 3/4" brass T-fitting with bushings in all 3 ports of the T. Screw the glow plug into one of the bushings in the straight "top" part of the T and the input and output lines into the other 2 ports....

wouldn't they get to hot and burn out? you couldn't leave them on for to long...
