So, I'm thinking about getting the windows on my 03 Ranger blacked out. But i've got some questions, how dark can i go before its illegal to drive it on the road? and can i get the windshield done to or do i have to leave that clear? I'm in Ontario, Canada if it makes a difference.
call your local DMV or whatever the equivalent of division of motor vehicles is up there. its different in every state so its bound to be different up there. darker is more legal the closer to the equator because the tint reduces heat inside the vehicle, but the further north you go the less tinted your vehicle can be, and you can not have the front done legally because tint impairs your vision at night (visibility, distance, etc).
best bet is to call your local. i've got 20% all around (except front which is clear) on my grand prix - and its very hard to see out the back at night ... and the GP has reverse lights which double as back up spot lights so its not like i dont have ample lighting back there.
You said you were getting it done. When I had mine done, the shop explained all the options, warranties and codes regarding applications. Pick a shop that has a track record doing this and talk with them.
dono, I am going to talk about it with the shop, but the only person around here who is recommended is in another city about 45mins away and he only comes down when there is enough work for him to spend the entire day. So since i have to call him and its a long distance call i would like to be prepared and have all my questions ready when i call.
