i have a 1974 marine 351w standard rotation. and i need a crank for a 1988 351w efi block. will the crank from the 74 work in the 88????? sorta need a quick answer
I seem to recall that the reverse rotation cranks have the angled "scratches" on the rear main seal surface sloped the opposite way. So instead of tending to pull oil back into the engine, the tendency will be to pump it out.
Does the 88 engine have a one peice rear main seal? If so, there is an oil slinger on the rear journal will have to be machined off of the 74 crank to be used in the 88 block.
