fuel problem??

fuel problem??
i have a 77 with a straight 6 and mechanical pump, carb doesnt get fuel, pump isnt pumping it, i crawled up under the truck and there is a pressure switch or something mounted on the frame with fuel lines coming out and 1 wire going to it from the body... looks like hell, i dont know what it is and i wonder if its the problem...what is it and what does it do.
