Drawbacks on the 4.2 V6

16mpg for a V8 diesel which costs $2.75/gallon compared to 22mpg for a V6 gas which costs $2.99/gallon... is the 4mpg really worth $0.25/gallon?
It costs $0.172 per mile to run the deisel (in fuel), and $0.136 to run the gas. Not much of a savings to me... $0.04 per mile.

Yea.. it only takes 400,000 miles to make up this initial cost difference, I know diesels last longer, but they aren't going to last 600,000 miles. (thats given that the V6 is going to last an average of 180-220K miles).
