John,

I am assuming you're looking for the end plate of the start correct? According to my books, the plates are all the same for 6 & 8s for '48-55.

Bob, I sent you an email about this part yesterday. It's a V8 engine and its the plate the starter bolts to, it also bolts to the bellhousing.

John,

I was thinking you needed the end plate of the starter. I don't have the part you're looking for, I do have the part for a flat six but they're completely different.

Here's the drawing from my parts book, hopefully this will help in some way:

Bob, great picture. Yes, thats the starter mounting plate. I need that. My truck also does not have part #6410, the dust seal. Dont think it ever came with one by looking up in that area. I have read that all trucks had them. Anyone out there recall having one?

For your reading pleasure, check out the msn techno site for bell housing variations. Scroll down under engine building to the link to 49-53 bellhousings - it's in pdf format so be patient.
