I know someone on this forum will have an answer to my problem. I inherited a 1966 f100 and know next to nothing about working on vehicles. Thus far I've had a new engine 300 straight 6 put in and tidied up the body/paint. Currently, he doesn't go very far due to a trashed throttle cable. I ordered what was supposed to be a replacement from LMC and no joy. My local mechanic said the ends are wrong. In searching/reading on the forum it appears these are difficult to find. Bob (my mechanic) said the cable needs some kind of ball connectors at both ends. The lokar has the proper connector at only one end. From the picture on the JEGS parts site it looks like I should be able to replace either of the connectors. I'm at a loss. I live in Philadelphia ... just in case anyone is nearby or knows of someplace close that might have parts/know how.

There are 3 different accelerator cables for a 1966 F100 240/300 I-6.
You might call FTE sponsor GREEN SALES 800-543-4959. They have a free obsolete Ford parts locator service. They do not have the cables, but may be able to find one.

Thank you! Just called them ... no joy. He said it no longer exists. Do you think I could buy two of the lokar to have the appropriate connectors at each end? The picture looks like I should be able to change out connectors. The only other thing I can think of is to replace the pedal assembly to match some available cable. Suggestions?
You can also make your own linkage with parts from Napa. I had to do that in the past but that was utilizing threaded rod with a set of their rodends. The other option is to pick up a universal kit from Kragen or your local auto parts store. They come with an assortment of ends that it sounds like you need.
Went to direct linkage on 65 by going to later model pedal assembly. Had to drill approx. 1/2" to 3/4" hole for pedal arm assembly. Swapped a 6 cyl. for small V8 at the time so refab. was easier.

Dawn, I used the Lokar cable on my 65 all you have to do is remove the ball on the gas pedal by grinding off the bottom of the ball stud witch is rivited on. I also had to grind a little off the bracket that the ball stud was mounted on so the Lokar cable end would move freely. The Lorkar cable works great. James

1965 F Series trucks have a pedal which bolts to the floor, the gas pedal has a rod that extends upwards through the firewall. 1966 uses a different system. The gas pedal is suspended from the rod. The rod is not the same as used in 1965. Different parts...Whole different ball game.

Have the T18 and personally like the 4 speed, just a 3 speed with a rarely used extra gear, not sure about the NP435 4speed. Believe with the 300ci the easiest swap may be a C4 automatic with a floor shift conversion kit, perhaps more knowledgable member can better advise. Can't remember what carb I had on the 300, if recall it was an autolite 2bbl. Anyhow, may try rebuild kit before replacing. Recemt first timer for rebuilding carb and went to the FTE fuel forum and got lot of good advice. With regards to the cable linkage, seems simular post recently where member posted pic's of his setup with the cable linkage where I believe he added an extra twist in the cable. Would think the cable linkage could be modified to work somehow. Anyhow, posted couple pic's of mechanical linkage setup installed on 65, not sure if any help, or whether application would work on 300ci, can be intimidating when start cutting into firewall and or panels. Good luck !!
PS: Sorry thought was submitting thread in your 'carburetor choice post'

Dawn, I was on ebay last night and there was one listed. Go to parts and put in Ford, truck, and the years as 1961-1966 and scroll through the parts listed in the past 2 days.
