Speed sensor gear
I'm from france and the happy owner of a 1991 Aerostar. I need to know how many teeth have the gera who is mounted on the speedometer sensor.
Thanks for the help
Regards
Phil
The number of teeth depends on several factors = The rear axle ratio and tire size. The gear is held to the sensor with a C clip. Remove the cable, count the number of teeth on the gear, and post what it is. I'll give you the part number, and a location where one can be ordered. The gears range from 15 to 21 teeth.
Unfortunately, I've not the gear because I've changed the A4LD transmission and during the travel, all accessories included the speed sensor have fly away the box....
I've ordered a new speed sensor, but it is not delivered with the gear.
The only informations I have are the following : Rear axle ratio : 3.54 (come from the ID plate where I found the following : Rear axle : 23, and the tire size : 205 65 R 15.
If you could help me, I will appreciate

FTE sponsor GREEN SALES has the gear, and will ship it to France.

This gear is used from 1960 to today on 95% of all American Fords, so maybe it can be found in France.

Just a last question : 19 teeth is the standard number of teeth, or the number for my tires size ,who are not standard ?
Thanks
Phil
Aerostar was the only Ford to use the 3.45-1 axle ratio, so there's nothing else to compare it with. The other axle ratios that are close are 3.33-1, or 3.50-1. I looked at those, compared tire sizes, and decided on the 19 tooth driven gear.
Was the speedo reading too fast or too slow before you changed the A4LD?
It's hard to figure out the correct gear when the tire is one inch larger in diameter, and the rear axle ratio is only used on one vehicle.

thanks for your amswer.
I've asked to green sales, but I not yet any amswer.
I'm looking also for a neutral safety switch with 5 pins, ans the selector cable (shift cable?), I mean the cable whitch is beetween the lever on the A4LD box and the lever I use to change from park to neutral to drive....I'm not sure of the technical terms.
If anybody have an idea where I could fond these parts, I will appreciate.
Thanks a lot
