Mirror options?
I got my first extended road trip in with my new mirrors. 200 miles to the beach and back.
The Good:
They freaking rock. I'd pay $500 for them. I could see everything, all the time. No more mini cars sneaking up in my blind spot. I felt like I had eyes in the back of my head. (Remember, I don't run a rearview mirror, either.)
The Bad:
At very high speeds, or over really rough pavement, the large mirror vibrates a bit. It isn't too bad because you can still see stuff, but it does vibrate. The new mirrors weigh twice as much as the old ones so I suppose you can't expect perfection. I may try to shim the mirror as a test to see if the whole assembly is vibrating or just the mirror. The inner mirror is rock solid, and in normal driving, is more adequate than the stock mirrors. The big mirrors are just icing on the cake.
The Ugly:
I suppose trying to explain the cost to the wife, but after 13+ years she's pretty used to my spending habits. I took her to the beach so I think we're cool. I'm not sleeping on the couch, either.
All in all, probably the best $350 I ever spent on a vehicle.
