Folks, I may be going to fuel injection on my 390. I have a very easily to get at location to put an O2 sensor. In the "H" pipe about 18" from the header collectors. Else I'll have to pull a header to install a bung or cut my exhaust and install an O2 collector.
I know closer is better but my "H" pipe is bolted together ans I can pull it and have the bung welded in easily.
thanks, But If I go closer I really can only get about 4"s . I have a crossmember there in the way and the tranny. I thought about the header themselves. But the Drivers side is a pain to get out. And the pass side is easy to remove, but I have to remove it when I need to change the starter. I'm afraid I'll smash the sensor while I'm jamming in a new starter. I'm on my third in less than a year.
Will an "H" pipe see enough exhaust. I know it will take longer for the system to go into a closed loop while the O2 sensor heats up. But will it be getting "good" exhaust???? That's what I'm concerned about most. For tunings sake.
