Seriously, though, the parts AND service people at my F**d dealer told me yesterday that if I had a chip installed when I brought the truck in for service, or if it threw a code that indicated it had one installed prior, they would instantly VOID the warranty with F**d's blessing.
Ask them to put it in writing and then get in touch with me. I'll forward it to Diablo and Superchips --- I know that at least Diablo will call out the legal dogs. Also call Ford directly, explain what the dealer said. Ford will tell you flat out that installing it does not void the warranty. Also, consider that many of Diablo's and Superchips' largest installers are Ford dealerships.
No one is going to put anything like that in writing.
When they 'void' the warranty it will be structured in such a way that Covers Their A**, and doesn't even mention the chip or 'voiding', but for all intents you are hosed.
Something like: "Owner modification to software which is not supported." From then on, they can say any problem is software related, ergo, YOUR (owner's) problem.
I've seen it with done computer users who 'tweaked' the clock ratios up in their computers to improve performance. Manufacturer knows it can be done (with skill), if they find it HAS been done, adios warranty.
If they deny a warranty claim, call your chip manufacturer ASAP. They can usually help when this type of illegal activity happens, especially since the burden of proof lies with the dealer.
