I just had a Detroit TrueTrac put in my stock 9.75 rear end (99 F150 4x4 60k). I have had excellent service from TrueTrac units in Wranglers. My question: Does anyone have any experience with a TrueTrac on the 8.8 front differential of F150s? If so, were there any problems or concerns?
After a healthy tax return, my next modification plans are an AirRaid intake unit, a throttle body spacer, and some type of exhaust (maybe Gibson?). I am a little leary of the power programmers and performance chips. Like everyone else, I'm just trying to get the best MPG. I don't hot rod. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Well, you won't gain anything from the spacer. My Diablosport Predator gained me 1.5mpg on the hwy, and some in town too, plus it has more power and the tranny shifts much firmer now without all of the slippage between gears. I run it detuned to 87 octane too.
