Talking Temp sender?

Greetings all.
I am a new member with a 54 f100. I run a basic stock y-block with upgrades in the future. My problem is when I got the truck there was no temp sender . I have been told that ford had on located in the rear freeze plug on the head. Is this true? I cannot find any info about it. Any info would be great. Thanks Kurt G.

Sorry my bad. I run a 63 Ford 292. 2bbl. single exaust. I don't drive it much. It's seen 200 miles in the past 5 yrs. To get a temp gauge I pulled return line from intake and installed sender. But now no heater. Thanks Kurt G.

Sorry, my bad as I didn`t notice the Y-Block part in your first post.
Mine has the temp sender in the rear top left head, it`s not a frost plug but a threaded opening for the sender.

I just went out and looked at the head and it has a freese plug but, I just discovered something. Above the oil sender is a water jacket with a plug in it. guess where the sender is going. Thanks Kurt G.
P.S. Now I feel like a total idiot (man do I hope its the last time).

Sounds like you are on the right track now.
No, you aren`t an idiot, just learning which is a good thing, we were all there at one time.
Keep up the good work and the old truck alive.

That's about where the temp sender goes, but it DOES NOT screw directly into the block. It first screws into an adapter. The adapter screws into the block. OR Some of the adapters are a press fit. You need the adapter, otherwise the temp sender will bottom out before it can be screwed all the way in. The adapter may be there already, and that is what's plugged off.
