Slow take off and a whinning noise
My ride 2007 f250 sd 4X4 with 22K. Today was the second time this happened to me. It seems like I am experiancing turbo lag (slow take off). With this slow take off I have noticed that I have a whinning noise coming out from under the hood. Even driving at 30 - 40 mph, by slightly pressing the excellerator and releasing it you can here the whinning up and down (volume). It was late in the afternoon but I dropped in at my dealer to speek to a tech guy but nowone was available. The service adviser said it sounded like an EGR issue. So I am booked for nex Wednesday. Can anyone advise me on this. I would like to come in next week knowing something about the EGR.

Yesterday was a great day!
On occasion, my 07 does the same thing. Mash the loud pedal and it just idles along for 4 or 5 seconds and then lights off like rocket.
Yesterday, the truck was a monster. I spun the tires leaving a stop light with a 28' enclosed trailer! Pulled out of traffic to pass, an was doing 80 before I could react!
I wish I could get the issue to duplicate ...

I suppose it's possible to have it be the EGR valve, but usually when those fail you tend to get smoke and the thing sort of stumbles and bucks.
It could be that the variable vanes are stuck in your turbocharger (VGT). Depending on where they stuck, you could get either big time turbo lag or overboosting.
