I have just moved to this forum from the pre-powerstroke forum and have a question. I am getting ready to tow a 28' camper trailer this weekend and was not able to recieve my gauges in time. I have no mods and I just wondering if I really need to worry about excessive egts?
If you have a stock truck don't worry about it. I towed 9K with a 40 hp tow tune without exhaust at around 1200* on some long steep grades. Every truck will vary, and I'm not suggesting run a tune without gauges but no worries on a stock truck.
Yeah just south of Gilroy. I am heading up to Lake Don Pedro for the weekend... Not too many hills but just wanted to know how wary to be of the EGT's.
Okay guys I made up and back safely with only a few minor glitches. First I had issues with my prodigy brake controller telling me overload and thats all I could get out of it. It wouldn't work and then out of nowhere while braking it would lock up the brakes and release instantly..... So that was a pain... Then while going over the last grade of Pacheco with OD off it would squeal high pitched.

sounds like the fan was engageing and causing the serptenine belt to slip on the waterpump pully. Check belt tension and condition and the pully for signs of slippage such as glazing and burnt rubber.
