TPS Can't Be Found

My TPS died and I can't seem to get a replacement. None of the auto part stores can get one similar to mine (the one they list for my truck isn't even close 1994.5), and if they run the ford number, they get nothing. Ford wants to sell me one for $844 with the entire pedal assembly.

I read on here that someone went to ford and got a sensor, but they post is old. Has anyone done this recently and knows what avenue I should take?
I am completely surprised that none of the auto part stores carry the right sensor.

You can search the 'net for one. ebay may have them. Be thankful you don't have a van, they stopped making them a while ago, that's just wrong

I'm not sure if you can replace just the sensor portion. Here's the part #'s.

BTW: Ford calls this an accelerator Pedal (AP) assy, not a TPS.

Throttle Assembly (Includes Pedal, TPS, & IVS) 94-97
(Ford) F5TZ-9F836-A (f-Series) 94-95
(Ford) F6TZ-9F836-AA (F-Series) 96-97
(Ford) F5UZ-9F836-B (Econoline)
TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) 94-97
See "Throttle Assembly" (May not be Available Individually)
(Ford) F2TZ-9B989-C (recently available, haven't confirmed it works yet)

You should book mark this link for part#'s in the future:

$844!!!!! Holy crap Ford quoted me one for $368 last week. Got one from PSDshop.com for around $238 after shipping

I asked them about "(Ford) F2TZ-9B989-C (recently available, haven't confirmed it works yet" and they told me it was not the correct one.

Holy crap is right. A friend of mine has a Cummins that likes to eat TPS sensors.

The last time it went bad he pried open one of the old ones & cleaned up the contacts.

Sez it works as good as new.

I'd give that a shot before I spent OUCH 800 bucks for a new one. Or even the $238 that 79 mentioned.

79F150EFI, if a used one will do, you might pm bigbadwolfe and see if he can locate one for you. On this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...ml#post4820789 he said that he knew where there are several PSD's in a bone yard and he would try and get parts if needed. Just a thought. It's good to have great guys on here like him, they are the ones that really make FTE the best.

That is my part number. The part number that the auto part stores tried to sell me was an F2 something...could be that last one. However, it didn't work. The plug was different. Being friendly with advance, I had them order me all of the sensors that looked the same as mine. They should be in today. The one sensor they had in stock that looked the same didn't work though.

I don't have a single one of these trucks in a junkyard. We do have a truck only junkyard and the guy there said that he has 4 people on a waiting list for these sensors when the trucks come in. None on ebay last time I checked. Not a good sign at all.

I will shoot him a PM. I drive this truck daily, and although I can hit 15mph idling in 4th gear, I tend to get passed on the interstate .

I wonder why the 94-95 pedal is so high when the 99-01 pedal is like $120. I wonder why they wouldn't be interchangeable.

I do know that 96-97 have different part numbers than 94-95, and they only list 96-97. I wonder if anyone knows of any difference...? They are visually all the same. I may try one from a 96 if the ones I picked up today from advance don't work.

Thanks for the link.
