did a couple quick preasure washer squirts under the hood on the driver side today.
getting ready to peal the wrap off the hot side turbo tube, so i was knocking some of the heavy dust off of the tube and surronding area.
started the truck and pulled it out of my way and left it to warm up for a few minutes and when i came back to it...it had stalled.
restarted...(barely) and found a very rough run condition...and a service engine lite.
kept it running with lots of gas pedal finesse and finally came back to normal.
took it for quick ride....started doing it again...so i babied it back home and just as i pulled back into the driveway--problem cleared up again. and so far has not reaccured...
Check the ICP sensor toward the front of the driver side head (Purple Top connector) it may have gotten wet.
Another spot to check is the connector and brass looking nut on the back of the IPR. If water knocked that nut loose it can cause rough running and stalling or if wayer got in the connector it could too. The IPR is just below and to the right of the fuel drain valve and under the oil temp sensor.
yup--i commonly hose my gassers and my BIG diesel ALL THE TIME! i never cover anything! i simply avoid areas that i know will give me trouble.
this truck is new-to-me. first time i've tried it...
i should have enough light in a couple hours to start an investigation.
sounds like alan has the low-down?
cept i dont know what the IPR is.....or exactly where....
sorry dont mean to be stupid--7point3's are all new to me.
The IPR is the Gold looking bolt in the center of the pic, The ICP is at the bottom and Purple on top
The ICP sends a signal to the PCM of what the pressure in the high pressure oil rail is and the PCM commands the IPR to either raise or lower it depending on need.
