hi guys newbie here, what if any are the changes in the ford p/u from 46 to 48? i notice from some research pics etc there really isnt any abrubt changes can anyone help? i have one thats supposedly a 46 but cant id it i have no paperwork thanx
On the '46 some of the crossmembers will have a part number embossed in the metal that will start 21C. Check the front crossmemebr where the radiator sits, as well as the pieces where the engine mounts are. Also, left frame rail, top, between the steering box and the axle you should find a stamped number, IGC or 699 for '46, 7IGC or 799 for '47. Those will be the prefixes of the VIN.
And yes, not much in the way of changes between the years.
thanx gary i'll check that out, i seen the stamp on the top driversside frame i'll compare to your reply

Well I wish I could take credit but I can't ,at the time of the photo I had just bought the truck and drove it home. It is my first project truck. I have alot of work to do to it and as money and time allows, I am getting stuff done. the truck has a flathead 6 in it, I have replaced the carb, added the tail lights, re wired the parking lights, fixed the Fuel gauge and ran new wires for that and replaced the glove box. I want to leave it as orginal as possible except for the paint and want to add some chrome to the front. I'm currently in the US Army. My uncle is retired Navy.
