Anybody ever hear a venting sound when their truck shifts from third to fourth when under a load? The sound is similar to the sound you get when when you quick disconnect an air hose that still has air under pressure in the hose (just not nearly as loud and crisp). No one I have talked to has ever heard such a sound.
It's been said a zillion times here, but you might consider canning the K&N. It will not seal correctly and end up dusting your turbo or worse. You'll find a vast majority here will not recommend them.
You might do a search for "Intake system, Air filter etc." A lot of guys use the 6637 filter as I do. The AFE units are really good too. I'm sure others will chime in here.
Where do you buy the 6637? Is it a special order? Does it come with the ducting?
6637 is the filter number from NAPA. No it doesn't come with any duct work you have to build it yourself. It is only a bare filter. Now with all that said, if you have the K&N open element filter you should be OK. The problem K&Ns are the drop in filters with the stock air boxes still in place. The filters aren't the big problem it's the way they don't seal up well in the stock boxes and let dirt get by and "dust" the engines.

I agree. Oiled gauze is oiled gauze. K&N, AFE, Airraid, S&B, etc. etc. are all using virtually identical filter media. It's the cheezy stock airbox that causes the majority of the problems.
