From what Ive read it seems that a diablo chip will not overide the speed limiter. Is this so? if superchips can overide than it is possible and diablo should do it. other than that it looks like diablo is the way to go.
...also... My understanding is I need a custom program for headers and a K&N FIPK... how about after the headers?
the plan is this... headers are in the mail... FIPK soon to follow... should I wait until after getting my custom exhaust to get the chip or can I cheat and get the chip first?
Ive also read 275/55/17 tires are the same hieght as the stockers 235/75/15... if this is true wheel size wouldnt need to be burned into the chip?
As I think of more Ill write... thanks for any upcomoing info
Both Diablo and Superchips can remove or raise limiters on a code by code basis. In other words, some codes Superchips can do it, some Diablo and others both can. And then there some codes they can't. There is no blanket statement such as "Diablo can't remove the limiter on a 1997 Explorer." We need to know your specific ECU code to tell you which brand can do what.
You can put the custom chip in before the headers are installed. It'll run slightly rich, but not enough to notice. The biggest thing done for headers is taking care of the mixture/check engine light.
