Here's the problem of the night. (I'm pretty lucky if this is my biggest problem!) My 7 year olds hamster is vicious. She's had it about three months now and you can't hold it, it's bitten her three time and my wife once. When it bites it bites hard! Draws blood every time. We were pondering the idea of letting it go in a field. We don't want to take it back to the pet store and have it bitting someone elses kid. Our only other option is to just keep it and wear welders gloves to clean the cage. Any thought or opinions? Think it could live in the wild?
give it back to the pet store, tell them the problem.
i have had a number of hamsters when growing up, some are just fine, others always bited.
no reason to kill it, it is just a bite, past the pain it is not hramful to anyone.
so my advice, take it back, tell them you want a hamster that doesn't bite because it is for your kid. there are many adults, including my wife, who does not mind a biting hamster.
did i just have a conversation about hamsters at one in the morning?
Yeah, I had my doubts on it living - being in Colorado and all.. We might just get a "beware of hamster" sign, some thick gloves and live with it. They only live a year or two anyway... my daughter would hate me if I gave it to a snake, though it does sound like a reasonable idea...
