Most likely if you take it back to the pet store they will just feed it to a snake or something else. They don't want a hamster that bites either. They could not resell it to anyone except maybe for feed.
If you are thinking about destroying it anyway I say let it go outside, that way at least it has a chance (even though the chance it will live is probably slim at best).
I've had pet mice over the years and if I ever need to get rid of them I always just let them go outside. I will leave them near the barn or something though so they know where to go for warmth and stuff like that.
Here's the problem of the night. (I'm pretty lucky if this is my biggest problem!) My 7 year olds hamster is vicious. She's had it about three months now and you can't hold it, it's bitten her three time and my wife once. When it bites it bites hard! Draws blood every time. We were pondering the idea of letting it go in a field. We don't want to take it back to the pet store and have it bitting someone elses kid. Our only other option is to just keep it and wear welders gloves to clean the cage. Any thought or opinions? Think it could live in the wild?
A HAMSTER ? Just what you need .Something else that eats & doesn't work .I say let it become part of the food chain . Do you have any other reasonable pets ? I asked God to send me a true friend .He sent me an Akita .A beautiful fawn w/black mask 100 lb. male that takes no crap from anybody or anything .He patrols the property and gaurds the F-1 trucks . He can make it to the back fence in 2.7 secs. Could you ? Also a tax deduction every yr. Security for the business .
