Question Stall... ???

On my way home from work yesterday and today... I noticed what seemed to be a Stall...... my best way to describe it is like when you are driving in the rain and the back tires slip and then catch right away...thats what it feels like..... yesterday it was raining...but today it was not........ could it be bad gas or do I maybe have a more seriouse problem like the trany........... Any and all ideas are welcome ...I would like to fix this before it turns into something major as I use my truck for work perposes every day........ THX in advance... A.

When this "Stall" occurred did the tach drop like you turned the key off?

To be honest I didn't notice if the tach droped...... but the new problem now is that the truck has died about five times in a 10 mile radius and the " Service Engine Soon " light came on. I'm wondering if it's bad gas , only because I bought gas Monday Morning and started to notice all this stuff Happening after that.....the truck ran great and I was in aw of my 17 miles to the gal. milage I was getting......... now I want to take my 45. and go shoot the #$*& thing. please let me know any answers yopu guys may come up with and I will continue my research to figure this out as well.... THX A.

Before you you shoot it and scrap it for dog food I will come and haul it off for you. :-D

JEV is right with the first place to look. The CPS (Cam Position Sensor) is usually the culprit. I understand that Ford now offers a new version that is supposed to be better than what has been offered over the years. It is also a lot cheaper. Most of us keep a spare in the glove box. When it decides to go it is like "turning the key off". It is a real pain when you are having the problem, but it is one part you can change out in about 20 minutes.

Outside of that keep an eye on when this happens and what other pieces of ifo that you can gather, I have seen chaffed wires against the engine do the same thing in cold or wet environemnts.

It's pretty easy to replace.. You can order one from http://fordparts.com/cart/?pn=F7TZ-1...&submit=Search Or just go to ford the get one now that they are cheaper.. Note the new p/n in the link.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago. Mine as started quitting as well but has only done that twice. I'm going to get a new CPS but i'm trying to wait till it gets worse so that I know for sure if it has fixed the problem. It has only quit twice in the last week or week and a half

I called a stealership the otherday and they told me it was $30. The ones you called must be trying to get rid of the older ones

The $190.00 + ones are the earlier versions and you probably don't want those. The new ones are supposedly a better design but there is not enough time behind them to support the claim. They were only released in May.

A lot of dealers will only sell you the expensive one, because they have them in stock and want to get rid of them before they sell the new ones, but now you know better. Good thing you found this site, eh?
