I did a little of that too.

Thumbs up

Hey all - Congrats Ford 79 on the upgrade! Just wondering if a 4" exhaust is necessary with a dp tuner? Also wil a tuner increase mileage while towing or just increase power? Thanks, Bill.

Come on guys, you gotta stop all this. I can't take it anymore. The only supporting mod I have is the 6637 intake, so it will be awhile before I get my DP.

I can't say that I get better mpg when towing, or even with the 80 econo. Of course with all the power you get with 80 econo I have a hard time staying out of the throttle......

I haven't had an opportunity to really run with this I live close to work, but tonight I'm puttin out some coal on the way to the campground! <O

Hey Cangim, what does your 5'er weigh? Do you have 60Tow or 40 and are your egt's good with this setting?

I went with the 60tow. The 5'er, well curb non loaded model is 9600lbs. I don't really know exact numbers but it is a little heavier than the last one. My best guess would be round 12500lbs loaded up with all of our stuff. I usually try to only leave a few gallons of water in the tank and fill up the rest of the way when I am close to the destination point if possible. EGTs are suprisingly very manageable. We went up a pretty good grade outside of Montipiler, ID on highway 30, think it was about 7% or so, pretty long mostly straight, speed at top was 52mph, egt where right at 1100, boost was 27psi according to my gauge. The only thing I didn't like, I am pretty light on the throttle most of the time so when the TC would lock up it would cause quite a jerk, I am going to get with jody one of these days and see about slowing down the lockup rate on the tow setting as I really don't want to break anything. Funny part is if you are in the throttle more it doesn't have the jerk to it, you definately feel it lock but it is much smoother.

You could also try the manual TC lockup mod. I have no experience with it, but your situation sounds like a prime reason to try it out.

This is good news, thanks for the reply. My 5'er is parked for the season at a County Park on the Ohio River and probably won't be moving it again till the fall. It's 9550lbs. Dry weight.
