My 2000 F250 experianced a loss of power and started to rough idle about three weeks ago. Had to tow it home since then I have ruled out by swapping out with good parts (i.e. truck at work) the IDM and the PCM. I checked the driver side valve cover wiring all looked good and will be removing passanger side starting tonight. I ran the run test with the enginuity scanner and it showed a misfire unbalance condition for cyl 1, 3, 5. It's starting to look like it is the wiring. For anyone who has had the problem with there UVC wiring what are the symptoms.
Thanks
My symptoms were it seemed like some of the cylinders weren't firing. Like a gasser with a few spark plug wires missing. Very rough driving, but it would drive.
Did you check the UVC connector for separation.. My 99 with only 69K miles had both the driver's side and pass. side UVC connectors loose about 1/4". (the plastic locking tabs are junk). Driver's being the worse and cause SES light, a bad miss and a fault code of P1316. Fixed it with a couple of homemade shims behind the tabs and has been good ever since.. Have pic's if you want to see them..
Just got done working on passenger UVC wiring eveything looked OK used my fluke to check connections and all looked good. I still have the miss on 1, 3, and 5. I guess next is a trip to dealer. Does anyone think all three inj could fail at once?
Since you have good ohm meter, did you check the resistance per the following ? You might find a bad injector or two..
You can check your glow plugs/injectors by unconnecting the 9 pin connectors at both of the valve covers (outside) (near top edge) and use the following info:
GGIICIIGG
G - Glow Plug
I - Injector +
C - Injector -
Ohms between the G and block Ground should be 0.1 - 2.0 ohms.
Ohms between the I and C one at a time if one or more is > 5 ohms, it will point to the side's gasket connector or UVC harness being shorted.
Ok all of the readings look good.
Is it possible that those three injectors are staved for fuel. Anyone know of any problems with the fuel rails becoming blocked.
