Speedometer problems ver. 2

So today i changed out my wheel bearing on the left side to a non abs wheel bearing, i already changed out the wheel bearing on the right side to it without any problems. Now my speedo has gone out.

The question is the speedo takes it measure from the rear axle correct? Is it possible some way my rear VSS sensor was bad for a long time(remembering my other post about wheels spinning at least 90 on ice and, speedo says 10), and was actually getting the reading from the ONE front ABS sensor as some sort of a back up? Im really confused because if it the rear VSS sensor was going bad, wouldnt it still show a code all the time? Another thing that is wierd is that, every once in awhile my speedo would not work right after i start my truck, BUT after i came to a complete stop and took off it would work fine. I can see a connection between my problem now and before. I just can't belive it needs the two front ABS sensor for a speedometer since the rear VSS is the vechical speed sensor. Im going to try a new rear VSS sensor tommororw but would liek to know what you guys think.

when your speedo is not working does your trip/odometer?.. Mine hasn't been working since i bought the truck last week, but the trip/odometer does. and instead of tearing into the dash to check out the cluster im holding off to see if i can figure it out.

I have unhooked the VSS and then the trip/odo wouldnt work and the OD light would flash. i would plug it back in and the trip/odo works but still no speedo. i was thinking about buying a new vss but i don't think its the problem as it is registering the ODO and trip still leaning towards gauge cluster.

Well the speed is calculated by the ABS system. I am guessing that with front ABS, it uses all three to come up with overall speed the vehicle is traveling. Any particular reason you didn't put the abs back in for the fronts?

I can't put them on since the front wheel bearing are non abs off of a 2000 front axle. My truck is an early 99 and i used all the 00 brake parts since i had a siezed caliper pin in the right side before and i ended up messing up the caliper bracket trying to remove it so i went ahead and just used all the 2000 parts.
