my dashboard lights do not work, ive tested it with a volt meter and hooked the pannel up to the battery directly and it seems to work, but pins #2 and #5 arnt getting any voltage from the main connector inside the cab
does it say where the power is susposed to be comming from on pins #2 and #5?
Is it your just you illumination lamps not working? Or are the indicator lamps out? Or both? From what I can see, pin A2 is the ground lead to the parking brake switch, and pin A5 is the ground lead to the seat belt switch. Your power for illumination lamps is pin A9, which is a Lt Blue/red wire to fuse 17. Pins A3, A4, and A6 power the directional and high beam lights from various sources.
All that comes from the headlight switch. There is a blue/red wire that feeds all the dash lighting(radio, heater controls, etc.), and the cluster lights.
The blue/red wire runs from the headlight switch to the #17 fuse, then from the fuse to power all the different illimunation lights Dave mentioned. Suggest you try that fuse first. If the fuse is good, turn on the headlight switch and test to see if you have power to the circuit. If you have power, the headlight switch is fine and you need to look for a problem further downstream. If you have no power check the headlight switch and it's connections.
Has the radio been replaced? There's an illumination wire running to the radio that's often not used with aftermarket units. It may have been left hanging to eventually ground out.
okay, well now the issue is now the coil on the switch for the brightness of the dashlights is getting hot and smoking meaning theres a short somewhere, im going to check the paper circuit on the dash and see if thats the spot but any other suguestions are welcome
