Well got in the truck this morning and it started up fine. No bucking at all. It has started up fine ever since. Im truly puzzled on this one but im gonna replace the trs for now and then if it does it again ill pull the icp and see what she does. These things amaze me sometimes.
will the idle smooth out if you don't touch the gas petal? mine does it as well and it is normal as far as i've heard and seen with these trucks. try the icp then let us know.
No it does not idle out smooth without touching the pedal. I know what you are reffering to and in this case the truck is actualy jerking side to side pretty violently.
Digital Transmission Range (TR) Sensor
The digital transmission range sensor is located on the outside of the transmission at the manual lever. The sensor completes the start circuit in Park and Neutral, the back-up lamp circuit in Reverse and a neutral sense circuit for GEM control of 4 x 4 low engagement. The sensor also opens/closes a set of four switches that are monitored by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to determine the position of the manual lever (P, R, N, (D), 2, 1).
***Just found this on some other site. If I read this right the trs also controls the reverse lamps. Sunday I had the truck out in the woods. When I was backing up my wife noticed that the reverse lights were not on. I backed over a tree stump and when the truck shook the lights came back on. Just assumed that it was one of those wierd thing that this truck does. Is it possible that this could confirm that this is a trs problem?
I have not had a chance to replace the TRS in this yet when it started acting up again. Same story...just different day. Took it to a friend of mine who pulled the P0236 code from it. I know that this is the Turbo Boost Sensor but from what I read my problems and this sensor dont seem to match up. Any suggestions on where I go from here?
hummmm...No response from anyone can not be good. Just to throw this out there. I just unpluged the icp sensor and it still did its thing. If it was the TRS would it throw a code? I dont mind replacing it but doing so kinda seems like a pain in the you know what. Im not sure even where it is, and I know nothing about trannys.
The loping issue caused by the TRS doesn't leave a code as far as I know. You are correct that your code and your problems don't match. I would replace the TRS and go from there.
Gonna try and replace it this weekend. Not exactly sure how to get to it, but Im sure i will find something on the internet that will help. tjbeggs....your slacking LOL. you got pictures of everything else and its locations, but not this. Your gonna have to change yours and take pics when you do it so us retards have some direction. It sure would help me out. Thanks for the help as usual though
Well let me see if I can help you out. Never changed one but fromt he last time I looked at one it looks like there was a nut that holds the shift lever one. take that nut off. Then disconnect the electrical connector. then I think there are 2 bolts that hols the sensor on there. I think it has slotted holes so I am guessing it needs some adjusting but not sure.

thanks...im thinking ill take some pictures while doing it and maybe it will help someone else out who has no idea what they are doing. I will just have to leave out the pictures of all the mistakes I make..LOL It took me forever to find the darn part. Part companies call it a manual lever position sensor. By that name I did find some direction on how to install it but no pictures, and Im a picture person. Which is why your pictures help out so much. Thanks again for the help...hope it fixes it
