On the later 97 PSD will the micro tuner still give 60 HP and 115 lbs torque due to the engine has 225 hp and 480 lbs torque? Will that added power tear up my trans(auto).I now get 17 to 18 mpg around town and 20 on the road. Will I see any inprovement? Thanks Hotrod1783
97 F350 CC 4x4 PSD auto trans 4.10 gears and 6 inches of lift 35 inch BFGs
No, you'll get less than 60HP. Probably 50HP. The downpipe is just too restrictive in that truck. No, it will not tear up the transmission, abusing the truck will. Can't guarantee a fuel mileage increase because there are so many ECU codes. The majority of conservative drivers see an improvement but heavy footed drivers can see a loss.
Great, I know that the 97 had more HP and Torque and I was not sure on the power gains I would see. Is there a easy way to tell if it was chiped. The truck is a powerhouse and seems to run great. I pulls a 30 ft camper and would like a little extra power. Thanks hotrod1783
If not, you'll need to remove the service port cover from the computer box. If the connector has the goop (highly technical term for the grease they use) cleaned off then its probably been chipped.
Unfortunately, only the gas tuner can do that. I recommend you either get a Diablo Delta chip calibrated for your speedo (free) or use a Microtuner with a True Speed to adjust the speedo.
