I recently got an old T23 IBM Thinkpad. And tonight I took it out of the docking station and the Keyboard is wierd. Some kind of wierd num lock is on and I can't turn it off. Most of the keys trype normal but when I hit the "m" key it types a "0". J=1 K=2 L=3 U=4 I=5 O=6 and 7,8, and 9 are actually the 7,8 and 9, keys. I tried to use a thinkpad forum but I couldn't figure out how to search, then I tried to join thinking I need to be a member to get the search feature and I couldn't figure out how to join. Anyhow yall prolly know better than them anyhow. How do I turn this off? I've got a merchandising report overdue and I can't type it.
thanks

I'll look at mine when I go home for lunch, but I believe you are referring to the associated numbers set up in the keyboard as a "10 key". There is, if I remember correctly a function key that will turn this off. You should have a blue IBM key, hit that and search for turning on and off the 10 key function.
Try going to this link. (I think you select the blue num lock button)
Thanks yall, you were exactly right, I'm typing this from my laptop. Any idea how that would get turned on? I could see myself doing that once on accident, but it's happened a few times.
Thanks,

It might be possible to turn it on from software, but not sure. On desktops with full-size keyboards you can also have it turn on by default when you start up the machine. I don't think there is a BIOS setting on the laptops to do that though.
It's definately a challening thing to do accidentally, so I wonder if some software is turning it on....
