i was wondering if these headers would be any good for my 1997 F150 ext cab with the 4.6L V8...i am not looking for a performance header...its just that these headers are half the cost on ebay as what my local guy wants to charge me for stock manifolds...so as long as they are at least as good as the stock manifolds and wont crack...they will work for me...i dont need performance or ceramic coating or anything like that.
has anyone tried them...or do they know what they are like?
check out hedman headers. seems to me a set of performance headers will me as much or a little less than buying factory replacement, plus, more power-mileage, and fun...
thats cheap. do yourself a favor, shop around and don't let the price alone guide you, you'll end up spending more in the long run anyway, might as well do it right the first time.

I'd have to agree....I haven't done mine yet, or should i say, have them done....i was trying to find headers with a 3/8" flange, but no luck.
well just so you know RSY...those Summit Racing headers have a 3/8" Flange thickness!!
i guess it also depends on what headers i can get that will not need stuff to be moved/worked around...becuase if any headers are going to cause that problem i might as well just stick with manifolds.
is there any brand that someone knows for SURE doesn't need a bunch of work to fit?
I put a set on my truck 2 weeks ago. Summit brand, but made by Pace Setter. I had several broken studs, so I figured I'd throw headers on while I was in there. Honestly, I'd look elswhere for 5 HP. If you can just replace the studs, I'd go that route. I spent about 1.5 hours getting the old manifolds out on each side, then 4-6 hours each on the new ones. Took a lot of patience to align, not much room to work a wrench, etc. I repainted them with hi-temp rattle can, but that paint has boiled off too. The construction on them looks fine, but the flanges are not 100% straight, and they don't bolt up like a stock replacement manifold would. I bought good FelPro gaskets and used the SVO locking allen head bolts. Currently a slight leak on the Passenger side, but I'm not sure if its the header of the connection to the Y pipe.
If you're sold on headers, get some good quality coated ones and spend the $.
no i am not sold on headers...i jsut want something that is going to bolt up and is cheap....and i can salvage my old manifolds becuase they are completley done.
but at the same time..if i can get a set of headers at the same price or cheaper than stock manifolds i will go that route....problem is finding that set.
any other ideas?....i guess i might just end up going the stock route.
