Possibly i dont think so this i think applies to the o2 sensors im not sure if they are in the cats but i dont have any cats on my truck it has never shown the check engine light
Not to rain on your parade, but taking the cats off is illegal. If you don't care, the choice is entirely up to you. It's not like I don't speed every day.....
I'm just making sure you are aware of this. There are always high flow cat options
Good luck getting the truck inspected with no cat converters on it. I'd take them off and weld a straight piece of pipe through them, then weld them back on so it looks like they are functional.

Yes. Welding the pipe through them is in effect the same thing as removing them except they "visually" remain. Fools the inspector. Even after straight piping my Ranger converter my tailpipe readings were in the "PASS" range.
If you leave the o2 sensors in place you may not get a light.
I have talked to people that have not got a light and some do.
I would recommend running 2 high flow cats to replace the 4 cats. And putting the o2s back as close as you can to ware they were.
Then your legal and it will sound great!
I am pretty much in agreement, unless your cats are stopped up they're not worth messing with. If they are restricted, straight pipe 'em and put 'em back.
