How exactly do i shim the fpr??? i have a 97 F-350 psd and i pulled the plastic off the motor and can see were the little bike tire dust cap is, where do i go next and how do i do it? i belive i need a tire pressure gauge to tell me what the psi is? also i heard that if i run the pressure at around 72-75 psi i should be good, is that true? note, i have a ts 6 position chip tuned by t. wildman that i will be installing tommorrow, will that effect my chip at all? thanx guys!
That will not affect your chip or will you be able to tell a difference but it will have more pressure when it needs it. I will give you a link. Be sure to check the pressure before and after. I had 55 before and now I have 75. It is next to the schraeder valve that you will check the pressure at.
a regular tire press. gauge works right?
and i pull the spring out, put the bb in, put the spring in and check it right? how do i adjust it if i need to?

BTW: A regular fuel pressure gage bounces with the pulses from the pump, it very difficult to read. After I shimmed mine the gage bouced from 20 to 90 psi without any trouble so far. I used a 3/16 ball bearing IIRC. A tire pressure gage might work but it may spray fuel out of it and will likely be junk afterwards.
I used a cap srew and a brass nut to get the pressure adjustment. Works pretty good. For a guage you can also get a smiple liquid filled guage cost me about $10 and then a flexible grease gun hose will thread right into the same place as the shrader valve. This is easier to read than a tire guage will be. Be sure to get a liquid filled guage it slows the bouncing down some. I dont reccomend leaving the guage on though, because the bouncing will eventually just kill the guage.
I agree 80 at the absolute max. Can't find the pics but it is and easy mod.
P.S. Schraeder valve = Bike tire thingy
So, I kept seeing all the posts on the FPR shim, so I went out and did it (Like 5 min worth of work) My pressure was 58 lbs prior to the shim and after the mod went straight to 80, this was using a Tire pressure guage (this should be accurate I assume), doesn't seem to go any higher and I checked several times... Is 80 going to be too much?
What I'm trying to say is that there are guys here running 80 ok but others have had problems with that much pressure. I wouldn't leave it that way if it were mine. But I'm far from being an expert on this stuff. Maybe look through the nut/bolt/parts bins at your hardware store for something thinner than a bb that would fit in there.
another way is to buy the $10 cali fpr kit which is set up to have your truck running at 75 psi.
Sounds good, but could use a little clarification on "Cali"
By the way it's good to see you online again!
Are you still deployed, on Furlow, or back?

LOL I like that. She picked a great place to post.
I think "Cali" means California version. Different emissions standards and all that makes for some different/additional parts on PSDs there. Which is odd because Cali doesn't require diesels to be smog tested. Maybe I'm wrong. I was one other time.
