i have a 05 sd 6.0 and one of the injectors is giveing me a problem. i also have a banks six gun in the truck. will ford replace the injetor with this in or do i need to remove the six gun and the pda? do i need to erase the memory? and how? thanks any help would be greatly apprecated
It would probably be in your best interest to remove the Banks unit, unhook the batteries, and turn the headlights on for 10 minutes (helps discharge all electrical power in the system after the batteries are disconnected). They you can hook the batteries back up. You may want to do this a few days before you take it to the dealer so you can get a few drive cycles into the PCM after resetting it.
yea, do exactly what he said and get like 50 to 100 miles on it and you should not have a problem, but i definately recommend that you DO take off the chip. i recently had some injector issues and had an edge juice chip. so i took it off brought it in and no problemo!
the replace ares but when one goes they all seem to go and its not like they will just change them all they go 1 at a time ares went in like 6 times before it ran gd
There are plenty of known issues with the injectors on the 6.0L, so I wouldn't necessarily blame this on the chip. That is why Ford has come out with two different flashes to try to help keep the injectors from sticking. International came up with one fix that vibrates the injector for 30 seconds after the truck is shut off. This was quite loud and annoyed many owners so Ford came up with there own fix. They pass electrical current through a solenoid in the injector to heat it up, thus freeing up the stuck injector.
I'm not insinuating anything!! Nor am I pointing fingers... I'm just asking questions because I don't know that much about the modding diesel world.. thanks for the info though
honestly no, ive heard that the 6.0 were known for injector problems. I just took my edge chip off though cause i enjoy my tranny and plan on gettin an sct soon
