Diablo Delta

Hello All,

I will be in the market for a performance chip in the near future. I have been hesitant on getting a chip with the gas prices going up and down all the time. The Diable Delta is the chip I am interested in. I like the idea that they make a "stock", "87 Octane Performance", and a "92 Octane Performance" Settings. I have looked on the Diablo Sport website but they don't mention the Delta chip. Anyone out there have any resources with information about the Diablo Delta?

The vehicle is a 2002 Esplorer Sport Trac. So far I have a K&N FIPK and a Granatelli MAS. The Diablo will be a great adition to my mods.

If anyone out there has something they feel is better then the Diablo Delta, please let me know. I am always open to suggestions.

Thanks for your time and assistance,

Tom

Click the news section on the Diablo site:

http://www.diablosport.com/diablo-news.html

For a detailed comparison I've done:

http://motorhaven.autoanything.com/Web_store/Html/chipfaq.html

This should answer all your questions plus have a comparison chart half-way down the page. I've used all the Diablo and Superchips products. All of them are good... but if you look in the FTE vehicles you'll see a Diablo Delta chip. 'Nuff said.

Thanks for the links. Hopefully Diablo Sport makes on for my 2002 Sport Trac ECU code. Has anyone out there installed a Delta Chip and actually felt a difference between the "stock" and "87 Octane performance" settings? I know there is a big difference between stock and 92 Octane performance, but with Gas prices as they are, the crap going on in the middle east, I dont want to make myself use 92 Octane when the prices are at $1.75/gallon while 87 might be at 1.50/gal. With a 22 Gallon tank, it can und up costing me 5 to 10.00 extra a week. Not cool.

Thanks again,

Tom

A bit off topic, but you mentioned the Middle East. Last time we went to war in Iraq (1991), gas prices actually went down.

Just a thought.

Lets hope so. You never know though. This time it might go up. Most of all, I dont want to limit myself to only use 92 Ocatane. Know what I mean?

ken just hooked me up with the same setup that you are inquiring about. It is really cool, and it works great. The diablo delta I bought went in to a 2000 ranger 4.0l 4x4 5spd.

The only performance gain you'll see with an 87 octane performance program is the firmer/quicker shifts and at wide open throttle.

That FAQ sheet was exactly what I needed, along with the comparison chart at the bottom. Any way to keep that link at the top for others to find easily? Seemed like the more I read on the threads, the more confused I got but that page made things a lot more clear. Pretty much nailed down what I wanted. Looks like the Diablo Delta is the chip for those of us who want maximum performance, a little flexibilty at times, and not a lot of confusing details I don't understand. Is that correct?

Yes, in most cases the Delta is the way to go. We'll be upgrading the board software soon and will put up an anchored link then.
