If ford is true to form, it should be a 1/2" , or a 9/16", it has been quite a few years since I was under a car. To move the flywheel,I have an old tool that i use, looks like a spanner wrench. You can use a flat blade screwdriver or a brake adj tool. Takes longer, but it will work. Good luck.
Oldblue,were you talking about Mazda, or my sugestion? Were you able to turn the flywheel? If not, you will need to take it out of gear, might have a tranny lock. Let me know how you come out.
