AIS filterminder problem

AIS filterminder problem
I installed an AIS in my 2001 7.3L PSD, and the filterminder showed restriction. I put the filterminder from the stock airbox on the AIS, and it doesn't show restriction! What gives? Do I have restriction or not? The two filterminders have different part numbers; (F81A-9N622-AA for stock unit; 2U2J-9N622-AA for the unit on the AIS). The unit on the AIS has a plug for an additional sensor that my truck does not have (restrictor indicator cable?). Has anyone see this problem? The vendor says he would be real surprised if the AIS is causing restrictions, since I have minimal mods (4" turboback MBRP exhaust). I'm familiar with the foam fender sleeve option, and will go this route if necessary, but I'd rather not drill a hole in a perfectly good (new) airbox at this point. If it's giving restriction right off the bat, then I'd say there is a design flaw. I'm hoping it's just a defective filterminder giving me a bad reading. Any feedback would be great. Thanks.
