glow plugs

glow plugs
i'm replaceing glow plugs and in takeing the first one out it has no tip i feel the tip may have fallen off in the cyl. what is the tip made of and is their a chance it could pass on out through the valves. if anyone has had this problem i would like to know how they corrected it.
