I am about to order a set of Isspro guages for my 99.5 7.3. Should I go with the weather guard and tap themanifold or tap the turbo pipe. I think I am also thinking the black dial& bezel w/ red pointer.
Is this a good set up or should I change something?
You will love the ISSPRO gauges. I went with and love the black gauges with the red pointers and green bulb covers. I ordered the drill bit and tap as a kit to make it foolproof. Go for it and tap into the manifold. It was easier than I thought and have not looked back since. I have 6 gauges all together and have now realized that the factory gauges are nothing to depend on. I have the water temp, oil pressure, and the standard EGT, tranny temp and boost pressure and I had to add the 150 PSI air pressure gauge for the train horns...Enjoy....Dave
I have the 4 gauge setup on the "A" pillar and 2 on the instrument cluster . The 2 on the instrument cluster cover up some idiot lights....like the gas low light, check eng light on one side and the factory water temp on the other side but well worth having. The top gauge also is hit by the sunvisor when it comes down but I just unfasten it from the anchor by the mirror, swing it toward the window, the put it down forward of the gauges and it goes right down. I also have my DP Tuner box above the top gauge with the wire harness behind the gauges out of sight. Awesome setup since they look just like the factory gauges and Dave at Diesel Manor was a big help when I ordered everything. Enjoy...Dave
I also have the 3 pillar set up of standard three, also got them from diesel manor. I went with the white with blue to match my stereo. They are a quality package, everything you need. Love the looks of the blue ones at night I went for the thermocouple in the up pipe, but its personal prefrence most guys seem to want it in the manifold because its closer to the cylinders, i prob would have gone that way but i ordered them before i asked that question.
Thanks Dave, One question. You said the sun visor hits the top guage. Is that on the top of the isspro pod or because of the tuner box that you installed?
All the Quad pods do that, its just a fact of fitment... I have the quad overhead, quad A pillar and quad dash pod, I will be adding the tripple under dash and the steering column mount soon. If you really want some sweet lighting get the LED bulbs for the Isspro gauges, PM me a e-mail and I can send some pictures.
Is there a place that shows where to tap into the manifold for the boost guage? I just have mine in line with the map sensor line.. And will the manifold give a better reading than the map line? Thanks guys I have the isspro''s and I think they work great.
I too removed the IAH to tap into the manifold for the boost pressure. Living in South Carolina I don't have much need for the Intake Air Heater anyway. It was just blocking the air flow... And your right, the 4 guage pod is hit by the sunvisor just because it is the nature of the beast.....I like it and have adapted to living with it...take care, Dave
