I broke the hose nipple off of the vacuum switch for my "Fuel Economy" light today while replacing hoses......Now it's on all the time, and I could just pull the bulb, but I like my little dash mount big brother.
Does anyone know a part number, or where I might obtain a new one?

Fuel economy light? Must be for the Mercury...Contact FTE sponsor DIRECTFORDPARTS...they can help. They are top of page among the sponsors, you may have to click on the refresh button till it comes up. Direct is NNW of you...up the road a piece ...Gaudin Ford in Lost Wages. Sorry, I have no parts catalogs past 1991.
It's not for the Merc, it's for the F100. There's a little blue/white vac switch mounted to the firewall for it, and an orange "Low Fuel Economy" indicator on the dash.
It actually (before I broke it) seemed to work pretty well - it'd kick in any time I was giving a bit too much on the stupid pedal, kind of like the upshift light on newer models.
I'm thinking I may have to find a piece of small tubing and sleeve it back together, since I can't seem to find a reference to it in any of the normal parts websites.

Huh?...geez, I can't remember ever seeing that light...I'll take a look..
If it makes you feel any better, it's the only one I've ever seen too. It's where the seatbelt light normally is on the cluster.
I'm supposed to know all this stuff...I found ref to it in the car parts catalog...1975/76 LTD's had a "low fuel economy " light on the dash...now to find the picture of the switch (I already found the switch part number, but I want to see it to verify). This may take awhile, I have to look at pages of diagrams...so, if I verify..I'll post the number here.

I've heard about that idiot "Low Fuel Economy" light was due to the oil crisis of '73-'74. I think Ford only put that on trucks in '74 and '75 model years. It does nothing expect monitor engine vacuum.
The blue/white thing sounds like a delay valve commonly found on later years. My '79 has two of them.

I already found the number..it was also used on cars in 1975/76..even the Pinto had it. The car wiring diagrams are extensive, the wiring diagrams in the truck catalog are terrible...especially when you consider I'm using a microfiche viewer for the truck stuff. Squint City!
A delay valve isn't a switch..I know what a delay valve looks like...it's this little bugger I want to see...then I can verify with the OP.

It's not like a regular delay valve - it's got it's own little mounting bracket, and a wiring harness hanging off of it. The whole thing is around ¾" diameter, and maybe an inch or so long.
It's wholly unneccessary, but I intend to keep this truck both functioning, and looking as close to it would have new as I possibly can - even undoing the damage of the 70's CB radio craze (not one, but three large antenna mounting holes occupy my cab, with bad mostly Bondo repair work).

What would you say if I told you..LOW VACUUM WARNING LIGHT SWITCH-blue with a 5" wire included. Sound right? This is the switch the 75/76 cars, and some trucks used....but I haven't found a picture yet.

Ahh, so it has a wire going to it? Interesting. I've always find that Low Fuel light wonderful. It really speaks out about the Arab oil crisis. I've seen the instrumental cluster with it on eBay once. What color does it glow? IIRC it was amber?
I rarely see 73-77 pickups, 78-79s are all I find in my area.
Ha! I have the 1979 truck wiring diagram book. Two inches thick. Hard to read it with letters in it as small as an ant.
