Meth/H20 vs. Propane?

I would like to hear ya'lls input on this subject. Thinking of doing one or the other but would like to get the most for the money. Didn't want to use the biggest bang for my buck saying. Sounds bad when talking about injectables. I'm thinking propane but will it raise EGTs too high. Will the meth/h2o give the Hp / torque gains the propane will.

I want to hear it all.

IMO propane would be a safer, i think it cools egts as well. If i was not towing, i would look at propane, if you tow i would look more towards water meth.

I think I'll be adding propane this summer - that way I can run a line to a bbq grill in the bed!! talk about some fresh venison steaks!!! WHOOOHOO!!!

From what i've learned, propane does help to lower EGTs by promoting a more complete burn inside the cylinder - i would think that would help to lower it because of greater efficiency, more power, and less of a need to put your foot in to it (yeah right!)

i'll do more research before i buy though, so i'll be watching this thread closely (and adding info as i find it)

I do alot of heavy towing. Looking for more power and cooler temps. I didn't realize propane lowered temps.. I like the idea of more mpg's. Someone on another thread said he was getting 18 mpg while heavy towing. If it is true it would be great.

I do not think that propane lowers egt's, My experience with it has been just the opposite. Propane is a fuel, and more fuel=more heat, plain and simple. It also advances the ignition timing which results in higher cylinder pressures and more heat. You need to be extremely careful with both meth and propane, especially if you have the powdered metal rods unless you have the money to fix a daylighted block. Small doses of either is generally safe, just be careful. JMO and experience, your mileage may vary.

I will be following this thread closely as well. Not looking for much power increase but if it comes with it, great, however i would like to control EGT's once they get up above 1000*, so they do not rocket up so fast. Tonight i was doing a burnout again in front of my buddies' house, and i held 1400* for 10-15 seconds before letting out of it. (Gotta take a pic this is massive) I knew even running straight water would help keep EGT in check.

Water/meth is great for a small gain in HP and dropping EGT's 100-200 degrees. I have run it for over 2 years and 70k with no issues.

I have seen them too, but there for drag racing and pulling thats about it... No good for towing unless you have a 200# co2 tank in the back...LOL

i tow the superchips kit turned down to about 30% along with a 60tow/propane DP tune. i cant push the EGT's over 1100* and thats up a hill.. the good thing about propane atleast in my case in that i get lots of boost very easy, 25psi is nothing. there is so much power that when the propane is on, my foot will start to hurt trying not to press to hard on the pedal...i could not imangine the power with this kit turned up to 100% which superchips is a 150hp shot...

Carefull, I was reading on one of those other sites about a guy who blew up his 7.3 with that stuff. The block had cracks all over the place and I beieve he threw a rod. Apparently what happens is when you get enough propane in the cylinder it will detonate before it should, and bye bye motor.
