hello again, I was wondering about a lift kit, but Iam not sure which one is best....body lift, or suspension lift?? For now, all I want is more room for bigger tires, and to make it look a little better than stock hight. Sooner or later I will be dropping a new engine and trans in, and converting to 4x4. So Iam wondering which one would be best for the long run?? what do you reccomend for a 3-5 inch lift?
Hey there, here's my 2 cents, stock sucks. End of story. If stock was EVER perfection there would not be an aftermarket. The differences between a body and suspension lift are obvious even in the names. Your body lift will be cheap, cheap, cheap. And you get what you pay for. Running 35's on stock suspension is a LOT of strain on stock components. Body lifts give u that lil extra kick when u cant find enough suspension to fit you know, 49's, but then you just aren't looking hard enough. In my opinion, build it right the first time, go with suspension mods. And if you don't wanna pay to play, you're in the wrong game.
I agree with Nova. Suspension is the way to go, as it provides better performance all around. I do however utilize both types of lifts on my truck. I went with a 4-inch Skyjacker susension lift and added a 2-inch body lift to give me 6 total inches of lift. It clears my 35 inch tires with no problem. Photos in my gallery.
If you do decide to go with just a body lift, I would not go over 2 1/2 to 3-inches. Any taller would be dangerous in my opinion.
