Im doing a 4wd conversion on a 79 Crewcab and 75f350 has been givin me alot of help and ideas. He really knows what hes talkin about so listen carefully to what he says. Anythin ya need jsut let us know man.
Yeha Dave, good job. Those are a deal for $85.00. Those wedges would sure make a swap like that easy. The truck already has the rest of the stuff already. Heak that would be an easy weeken project.
Gonna need new drivelines though. Well, they will have to be shortened anyway. Easier to make them shorter than it is to stretch them out.
Yeah good to point that out. The 60s will have longer pinion yokes than the half ton stuff. But what about u-joints? Ive been told that 78-9 they were the same no matter 100-350. but what about the older stuff? He might have a problem there. If its like here u-joints with 2 different sized ends are outragously high. Just thought id ask that.
Yeah dont be afraid to spend mony but spend it where it counts. Ive seen alot of guys go into projects like this blowin money on stupid stuff then they run out and end up cobblin up the important stuff. Then they end up with somethin that looks like a death trap. You have a nice lookin truck already and you want to keep it that way so use your head about all this.
You have to modify the shaft anyway, so as long as the shaft is in the shop being cut for the right length, then just have the right size u-joint installed. No need for adapter style joints that are not square. Too hard to find if you travel or find yourself busting one away from home.
Oh yeah i will definatly use my head....i have a couple of buddies who have the know how to make a project like this seem easy, it's just getting them to help me is the hard part. Not only that i don't have money that i can just "spend" on this project...i have to save what money i can get from the wife to make this project happen...she's the type of wife that, if she doesn't see value in the project and it doesn't befefit her in any way.....that wallet gets hidden and my ***** are in the dirt. lol
To che 75.I never even thought of the drive shaft shop doin that. Well broken im sorry to hear shes got the walllet. Im only 21 and livin at home. The only thing i got is truck and insurance payment. Not even a girlfriend. So my motto is "build it and buy it while im free" LOL. Ive stocked up on tools and parts and im doin the CrewCab before i even think of gettin a woman. And if i do get 1 she has to agree the trucks stay or she goes LOL
I'm 23 and married now....i have debt that she's paying off for me a.k.a. she's managing the money so i don't screw everything up and the truck isn't apart of the budget right now if you know what i mean. She means well she really does...i'm just very very very impatiant, but like the ol' sayin goes...."all things come in good time" well fella's it's been real nice talkin with ya, i'm gonna hit the hay...see back on tomarrow.
