Well, I finally installed the Mass Flo EFI system on my truck. While it is plug and play it is not bolt-on. Lots of work and fabrication and minor aleration on the truck. I plan to write a tech article with lots of pictures. How does it run? HOLLY MOSES!!!!!!!!!!!! I can feel the difference in the power and I believe the gas milage although I haven't gotten that far yet. The driveability of the system is great. My ole Ford loves it.
I would like to hear/see more about it since I am considering it for my 1978 crew-cab. I am just finishing my 400 rebuild this weekend with parts from TMI and would like to add fuel injection as soon as I recooperate from the rebuild a little! Congratulations on yours!
Glad to hear it!!! Now get working on that article so I won't loose what's left of my hair trying to figure out my system when I do the same thing!!! How about an update as to mileage improvements as you use the system??
Glad to hear it worked for you!!
Good work. I was well on my way to building my EFI when I became aware of the Mass-Flo setup. Otherwise I may have gone that route.
I am interested in hearing about how much fabrication was required. The most attractive part of the Mass-Flo setup is the simplified air intake.
Some more good news to this project, my fuel milage went from the standard 9-10 mpg to 14-14.5mpg, mixed driving. Look out if I decide to overdirve this thing.
The air intake system wasn't that simple. I chose to keep the origional cold air intake system on the truck and there are clearence issues between the fuel rails and the air cleaner housing and clearence issues between the top of the mass Flo sensor and the cover for the air cleaner. Mass Flo wants a 1" gap between the top of the sensor and the cover and it isn't there without using a spacer somewhere. I'lll eventually get some pics posted.

I have gotten as high as 15.6 MPG with some conservative driving. It runs in the 13 to 14 MPG with more agressive driving.
The best I ever got with a carb was about 13 MPG, and 10 MPG was typical.
I doubt that I will ever save enough fuel to offfset the cost, but the drivability improvement makes it worthwhile.
The Mass-Flo computer is an EEC-IV similar to the '93 'stang computer (A3M) that I used. A donor mustang with computer, harness and sensors will keep the cost down, but that requires a programming device like a Tweecer. I used a Walbro GSL 2?? external pump (255 L/hr), which is probably cheaper than the Holley shown in Ford Muscle.
The big trick is to program the EEC-IV computer with the proper MAF Transfer Function. That has to be supplied by Mass-Flo, if you don't buy their computer. You also need the GM to Ford Sensor Interface box to convert the TPS signal from GM to EEC-IV levels.

I agree that there are ways to do this cheaper then what I did however, I'm not real well versed in the computerized fuel injection business and therefore chose to obtain a complete system in one box. My biggest problem is lack of patience to research everthing needed and then putting it together. If it doesn't work right I get frustrated. A plug and play system like Mass Flo's was the way to go for me even with the fabrication required to make it fit like I wanted it to fit.
