When I first bought my truck 03 6.0l I could roll the tires on wet pavement. After a few flashes my rig seem sluggish.(I think this is a scam from Ford selling us high output diesels and then DETUNING WITH A FLASH) anyway I buddy tells me it's the filter or injectors? He said use and additive and swap to a K&N? I was going to sell it but might add some after market crap to it. I read a great artical on a 03 ford f250 each time they added an after market item they would dyno and check of MPG increase. Did anyone see this artical I would like to read it again.
Yeah the original 03s hauled a$$, and ran super smooth. The flashes had to have detuned them. You really dont need an aftermarket filter, you especially dont want a K&N. All you will really acheive with one is some quicker turbo spool up. If you must have one get a afe pro guard 7. Get a good SCT tune to bring your power back. A power elbow is a pretty cheap way to pick up some safe power and possible Mpg.
Seriously any SCT tuner worth a salt can give you your original calibration back. You probably won't want it though, as there are several very good reasons they moved away from that strategy. Any questions, call LIPD and ask for Matt.
using google I found a couple places that use SCT and can put pilot injection back in along with their tunes.
Ya... but the injectors in the 6.0L (at least stock) could not keep up well enoug and they had perfornace and longevity issues.... so as great as pilot injection is... do you really want it? I think it had do do with the high-pressure oil that is used to fire the injectors... where in the 6.4L they use pizzo electronic injectors and oil is NOT used?

And if you talk to knowledgeable tune writers about this, they will recommend against this feature as it is extremely hard on the injectors and provides no real benefit other than decreased noise.
