Code Reader Questions

What code readers are people using? I have a 2002 PSD. Which ones are the easiest to hook up and use? Where did you purchase them and how much?

Thanks

Depends on you and what you want to do, if you just want codes, go to auto zone, they will read them. you want to go deep, everything I have looked into points to the auto enginutiy. but now you buy the softrware, then the laptop.....

AutoZoo doesn't have the right reader for our trucks. Several folks have gone there recently with a CEL and they could see any codes.

Autoenginuity has been a faovrite of people here. If you don't want to go with the whole laptop, pda setup then a scanner like AutoXray 6000, have to order the ford enhanced package, or OTC Nemisys or Genisys would be the route to go. I like the OTC products for the ease of use and bigger screens. The Nemisys is considered the mid level and comes with the domestic enhanced package and usually runs around $700 on Ebay. The Genisys is the top of the line and will cost you over a $1,000. The cheapest I have seen are on E-bay and they are refurb units. No matter what scanner you get it has to have the Ford or domestic enhanced package to read our trucks.
